Can I build a Monticello Greenhouse on a concrete slab?

Yes. A concrete pad can be used as the base, but it should extend 3–4 inches beyond each side for stability. For example, the 8×8 model (8.1×8.1 ft actual) would use a slab up to 8.4×8.4 ft.

Are Monticello greenhouses hurricane-proof or earthquake-proof?

No formal hurricane or seismic testing has been done, but they are strong when assembled correctly. Inspect bolts periodically, especially after high winds or seismic activity.

What’s the difference between automatic vent openers and ventilation fans?

Automatic vent openers use temperature-sensitive mechanisms to open/close roof vents without electricity. Ventilation fans are powered and move more air, but will not cool like an AC unit.

Do the doors swing or slide? What are the door dimensions?

The doors are hinged and swing outward. The door opening is 4 ft wide × 6 ft high.

What materials are used for the frame and panels?

The frame is anodized aluminum, and the panels are UV-protected polycarbonate.

No. Black frames use electrostatic coating, which is more durable than powder coating.

Does frame color affect temperature?

Yes. The aluminum frame is approximately 7°F cooler than the black frame in sunlight.
